I’ve mentioned in an old post how that after I moved to Cali that I’ve definitely started eating a lot more light, clean and fresh. Another one of my new year’s resolutions is to try to go vegetarian for a month, but I’ve decided for the Pescatarian route instead since I do love fish. I already hardly eat beef unless I’m making a certain dish where I think beef would be much more suitable. The only time I’ll have beef is probably if I’m out having a steak or a burger, which isn’t often. For some odd reason as I’ve grown older beef has made me nauseous. It doesn’t matter how the beef is prepared or anything, I felt like tossing my cookies. I’ve grown less fond of chicken since it seems so bland to me. I spent some time browsing at some recipes or ideas of what to try before the start of my lifestyle change. I just hope I don’t get bored and run out of ideas of what to cook.
At the moment I’m trying to finish up the remaining meat I have left in the fridge, which isn’t much. I’ve stocked up my fridge with tons of veggies like usual so that’s nothing out of the ordinary. Also I’ve started drinking green juice again for breakfast, which I do enjoy and it’ll be a better replacement for coffee since I’m trying to cut down. Clearly I’m becoming a health nut over time since I’ve been here, but it’s a good thing. I’m just trying to be much more aware of my own health since I haven’t been taking care of myself as well as I should.
I’m excited to give this Pescatarian thing a try, but not gonna lie I’m gonna miss prime rib and all that good stuff lol. 😦
Definitely more than ever, I probably cook 98% of the time now compared to when I was back in Boston. Back at home, I would dine out quite often. It would be at least 4-5 times a week, then it eventually minimized and got cut down to 2 times a week. I did dine out a lot when I first arrived in California. Mostly feasting on crawfish or eating at a Vietnamese restaurant. Now I really have no one to go out and enjoy good eats with. My friend here isn’t as adventurous when it comes to food. It gets boring when you dine out at the same restaurant so I guess I’m saving myself a good chunk of money from cooking at home haha. Growing up, I’ve always had to cook for myself and when I lived on my own. You can say I’ve always been pretty self-sufficient. I’m a self taught cook. I always kept it very simple when it came to cooking. I don’t add any salt or oil for when I cook. The only time I do use any oil is probably for frying eggs. I prefer to keep it light and fresh. I’ve definitely eaten even more healthier since I been here. It seems like produce here is definitely a lot cheaper than back in MA., so I do stock up on the greens. I always try to include a hefty portion of greens versus meat. When I do purchase meat it’s usually chicken or salmon. I realized I haven’t purchased any beef at all since I’ve been here. Although I do crave for a bomb ass piece of prime rib from time to time haha. Sighs I’ve been craving for bomb ass Korean food, lox and bagel, smoked salmon eggs benedict, dim sum, etc. Wish one of my close friends was here with me to explore good eats with me. Anyways brace yourself for the food porn that’s underway!

Ever since I moved to Cali, I’m eating a lot fresher and cleaner again. I was always pretty much eating fairly light and clean unless I was dining out. But even when I was dining out it wasn’t too bad. It was always usually hot pot, but now it’s been crawfish or pho haha. Dining out at American restaurants is a waste of money to me and I think the food is gross lol. I’d rather make pasta or a burger in my own home. Generally when I cook, I use very simple ingredients. Although, I have to say I do miss cooking in my own kitchen. I’ve been craving for sashimi, avocados, seaweed, and tofu a lot, which isn’t a bad thing haha. With the free time I have on my hands, I’ve been focusing on my health again. It was so chaotic during my move that I hardly had the time to go work out. With the amount of stress I was dealing with, I definitely gained some weight. Good thing I was able to fit in a couple work out sessions here and there, but not as adequate as I’d like. Lets see how long this whole health phase lasts haha. Well I generally eat light like this so it’s not an issue really. It’s just getting my ass to work out that’s the issue haha. I’ve made more time to go running around my neighborhood. I’m still debating on joining the gym around here even though I prefer being active outdoors. We’ll see. 🙂
Hope you enjoy my “cooking”! Just quick simple lunches I’ve been having. Nothing special!
